Vision

To provide quality and excellent information resources and facilities that meets the priorities of the users.

Aims of the Library

  • Attaining and maintaining collections that meet research and other needs of the users.
  • Providing a safe, clean, pleasant and productive learning environment conducive to scholarly research and study.
  • Providing responsive services to meet the needs and priorities of the users.

Goals and Objectives

  • To obtain and maintain a latest collection reflecting the current needs of the users.
    Objective: Continuous evaluation of what the current needs are and what is new in print.
  • To provide a well organized storage that promotes easy access and time management
    Objective 1: Ensure that all the holdings are systematically stored using the Dewey decimal classification
    Objective 2: Provide access to an electronic catalog
  • To obtain and utilize library and information technology innovatively in order to access information available in non-print formats
    Objective: Increase the number of patron computers with web access
  • Provide Access to information located elsewhere
    Objective: Maintain formal coordination with various libraries and consortiums.

History of the Library

The library was opened officially in May- 2011 at the University in Kololo.

Collection

The library has a collection of 36120 textbooks, journal & Magazines organized on Open Access shelves in the different sections of the library.

On-Line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

The Library Catalogue has been computerized and therefore books and other materials can be reached on-line from anywhere by just entering a key word, title of the book or name of the author.

Library of Congress (LC)

Books are classified and coded using the LC system where arrangement is from A-Z.

Borrowing

Majority of the books can be borrowed, apart from books with few copies that are for reference only. Periodicals, magazines, newspapers, journals and other reference materials are to be contacted only from the library and not to be taken out.

Inter-Library Lending

We are in collaboration with Makerere University Library, Bilal Public Library and other libraries so incase of any information materials not available, they can be ordered to the library.

Opening Hours

Al Mustafa Islamic University College Library is already open for users. Its schedule stands as follows:

Monday- Friday: 9.00 am - 9.45 pm

During Holidays: 9.00 am - 12.45 pm

Lunch Break: 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm

The library however remains closed on public holidays.
